Catholic Church: It’s all going tits up!

Ireland is suffering a ‘vocation crisis’. From The Derry Journal:

Ireland is currently experiencing a vocations crisis. While 160 priests died in the past year, only nine men were ordained. In the same period, 228 nuns died with only two taking final vows.

That’s fantastic news. Now all we have to do is stop priests being taken seriously by anyone. We could actually be seeing a future where Ireland can stand tall, free from Catholic flotsam and jetsam. Great stuff. But wait! There’s more, the Irish Examiner says:

MORE than a dozen serving Catholic priests have told a radio poll they have broken their celibacy vows, but continue to work in parishes.

Thank God for that; nothing better than men deciding to have sexual intercourse with other adults. That’s just so wonderfully normal; completely at odds with good old crazy ass Roman Catholic Church principles.

And the most outrageous of the lot: Did you know our government grants exemptions to equality legislation for Catholic schools? The European Commission is not happy about it, quite rightly:

The commission said affording religious schools special status to select staff who do not oppose the ethos of the school breaks EU law.

You can’t disagree with us! We’re the Roman Catholic Church! WE ARE THE LAW. Idiots. I’m ashamed of our Government for allowing this sort of thing to happen.
