De Rossa: we are change Ireland release video

There were reports on a scuffle in which Labour MEP Prionsias De Rossa was allegedly assaulted after a public meeting on the Lisbon treaty on April 14th. Guys involved in the incident have released video:

What fucking planet are these guys from where they think it’s acceptable to carry on like this? Why is this video so tightly edited? Did they not want to show themselves helping him up after he fell?

The comments on youtube for the video as ever, are a study.

Update: Good additional stuff on the We Are Change Ireland crowd here: We are change who are you - link via Mulley.

OK, he seems to have tripped when making a grab for the guy’s snoopy camera; but those fellas were pestering him as he went out towards the street. They pestered him a bit like those paparazzi pestered Princess Diana in August 1997. I think it’s fair game to heckle or awkwardly question politicians at public meetings (any seasoned pols know how to handle or ignore hecklers - De Rossa was a street actionist and corner speaker in his younger Sinn Fein days) ; but once the meeting is over the politicians revert to tired private citizens looking forward to getting home after a long working day. I’m saying nothing about the Lisbon Treaty vote BTW.

Reminds me of a video I saw a while back about a Free Tibet protest in New York. The guy with the camera was following cops around trying to goad them into doing something, talking loudly so that no one could hear what the cops were saying and conveniently pointing the camera at the ground when “things” were “allegedly” “happening”. It so happened that a few people were arrested at the protests, and naturally this video was thrown up as proof that America is Totally Like A Police State.

Hmmm…they have an interview with the lads who made “Loose Change” on their site.

Will have to look else where for Lisbon opinion then so….

They never showed the bit where they sat on him after he fell and kept taunting him. The man is 67 for Christsake. Would they do that kinda shit to their grandparents?

The guys at we are change Ireland are anything but violent. Quite the contrary. They make it a point to be non-violent. Asking direct questions of public servants takes a lot of courage. One seldom sees those in “professional journalism” asking hard questions. But somebody has to do it. It’s about time our public servants answer for their skulduggery.

Dear Kevin Bodenhammer: You have an amazing name and should start a Norwegian metal band. Maybe lose the Kevin bit though. You could be THOR BODENHAMMER. The capitals are important.
