Get naked for Spencer Tunick in Dublin and Cork this June

naked_spencer_tunick

Internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Spencer Tunick will be offering the public the chance of a lifetime to become part of his first back to back city art project in both Cork and Dublin this June. Multiple groups of nude participants will be photographed outdoors by Tunick as part of his series of installations that have previously taken place in cities around the world including New York, Amsterdam and Mexico City.

He’ll be doing it in Cork on the 17th of June and then Dublin Docklands on the 21st June. Exact locations have still not been announced. From the FAQ:

Approximately what length of time will I be naked?
You will only be nude for a few intervals within hours that the art event takes place. Most of the time nude is used getting everyone into position. Once everyone is in place, Spencer will work as quickly as possible to document the installation.

Oh man, just thinking about the problems that could occur at this after flicking through the emergency planning booklet, Jazz Biscuit edition.

Obviously,
inappropriate erection
is a real concern for the men.

And let’s not even go here:
guinness shits
That would not be good.

I knew they’d come in handy. See JB the Government is going to give us the gig for the advanced National Emergency Plan. The Introduction clearly does not go far enough.

Is it kinda weird that I’m really kinda tempted to do this? Dunno what I’d tell people but, you know, something to do and all that!

you’ve outdone yourself, sir, with the labels for the post.

Darragh - yes it is kinda weird. go for it.

Be careful what you ask for - it just might come true.

(D’ye think they’ll let me bring me camera??)

No, it’s not weird. I think it will be an amazing experience. I’m a bit hesitant about doing it on my own but at the same time, I think it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity not to be missed! Just think: immortalised in art forever!

    I’ll be there.
With a box of donuts and a camera.

The donuts are for my lunch, not for some weird hoop-la game…

Can someone tell me where you can go if you want to do this? Registrations are closed (you have to be early with this stuff!) Has anyone got the details?

Can I register on the day, where and what time?

I was at all 3 photoshoots. Over 2,700 in first shoot on pier. only 500 brave souls for second shoot in sea (grat craic) and then only 150 posing nude on the balconies of an apartment block in the center of Dublin, very liberating.Truly a life changing experience!
