I’m confused. Would obliterating the M50 toll altogether solve the M50 traffic problem? Would it suddenly become a free flowing experience? I thought the problem with the M50 was one of capacity - it simply cannot handle the amount of vehicles on it. In which case the only solution is car pooling and/or effective public transport.

Carpool.ie is just a place holder graphic unfortunately, there is no actual functionality there yet. DublinTraffic.ie has a more available service. You go onto a bulletin board for your area and post your details or contact someone who already has.

Yeah, but having a great big fucking toll bridge in the middle of it is a massive hindrance to traffic.

Someone needs to blow it up.

She’s not just a humanitarian. She is currently a journalist/columnist for the Sunday World newspaper

There is no higher order of human being.

That Dublintraffic.ie site hasn’t been functional for years, DCC tried to get something going with car pooling but they dropped it after a while due to lack of interest.

Getting rid of the charge won’t reduce the traffic, after all there will no toll barriers come August anyway, it will stop this ridiculous double taxation though.

The M50 was originally built to alleviate city centre traffic, now it seems they’re trying to discourage people from using it.

I don’t know why they don’t have bus stations at each of the major junctions on the M50 for traffic heading into town. Set up park and ride car parks all along the M50 because if we can get even a small percentage of the rural commuters to use public transport it would make a huge difference.
