I dunno about you guys, but I’ve got a hard-on for RTE this August. Why? Well because of Fáilte Towers. The premise:

Failte Towers, Ireland’s only 12 star hotel, will open its doors to an unsuspecting public this August 2nd, live on RTÉ One. Presented by RTÉ’s Aidan Power and Baz Ashmawy, Failte Towers will feature 12 celebrities, each battling the heat of the kitchen, the steam of the laundry and the toil of the toilets as they are left to their own devices to run a real, fully functioning hotel.

500 homeless players from 48 nations would ultimately be selected to represent their country in Cape Town, South Africa—coming from such disparate parts of the world as war torn Afghanistan, the slums of Kenya, the drug rehab clinics of Dublin, Ireland, the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina, the overflowing public shelters of Madrid, Spain, and the unforgiving city of St. Petersburg, Russia, where the homeless have no rights or identity.

Two of the greatest things in the world are coming together for charity this Friday: Lovely girls and cycling. The pedaling pensioner is going to be in St. Stephens Green Shopping Center (changing to a giant Lidl next week probably) pedalling away with Rosanna Davison, Cheryl O’Rourke and others raising money for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Cycling is for winners.

Everyone is pointing out the news that Lidl may replace the Habitat in Dublin, and are now grinning at the south siders who are loosing their palaces in favour of cut price beans. Also, people note that Abercrombie decided not to base a store here.

What a disaster that would have been. Imagine if you could just go down to the Abercrombie shop in Dublin and buy a tight tshirt? The whole point of mother going off to New York and/or having a mad J1 is to come back jingling like a princess of Crombie.
