Try and get a new TV licence or renew it online and you’ll get this helpful screen unless you use IE6 and IE7 on Windows.

The TV Licence Online system supports Internet Explorer 6 or Version 7 for Windows only at this time.

We have detected that you are using another browser. Unfortunately, this means that you can’t use the TV Licence Online service at this time.

53.84% of visitors to Jazz Biscuit use Firefox vs. 39.50% using Internet Explorer. That means that the majority of Jazz Biscuit readers (the most awesome people in the universe) can’t access the TV Licence online system.

Voice your embarassment (for them) by emailing tvlicence.web@anpost.ie and complaining. I’ve emailed them asking for a statement on this.

UPDATE: They emailed to say:

We are testing the Mozilla Firefox compatible version of the web application next week and we hope to have it live early April 2008.

So that’s something at least, but only half the battle.
