The Irish Blog Awards are over..roll on the Irish web awards?

Tags: , , ,

If you need a quick list of new web sites to read, you should check out the winners of Saturday nights 3rd Annual Blog Awards, a surer list of quality Irish web sites you won’t find anywhere.

The kudos are flying for Captain Mulley, organiser supremo of the awards. But what’s next? Is he planning an assault on Eircom’s golden spiders? That’s the rumour I heard - an open, properly democratic Irish web awards? So was Jazz Biscuit being led astray, or is there any truth to it?

Update: It’s true! It’s confirmed in the comments in this post!

Towleroad on the Irish Blog Awards shortlist

So the burning question for everyone is how did Towleroad get onto the Best News/Current Affairs Blog of the Irish Blog Awards short list? Awesome taint.org investigates in this blog post:

Let’s just say the content isn’t quite what you’d expect to find in a blog shortlisted for ‘Best News/Current Affairs Blog’ — a little bit short on Irish news, but heavy on pictures of naked guys getting off with each other. ;)

What’s going on? Are the blag awards being subverted? Is Towleroad written by an Irish guy, in which case this is fine? It doesn’t look like there’s any Irish connection from the About page.

Update: Captain Mulley himself left a comment on taint.org’s post:

Yeah, that’s being deleted as we speak! To think 5 judges got to review the site too!

Scandal averted! Everyone calm down. I know, we can’t calm down. It’s all just too exciting.
